Arizona Jewish Historical Society The Arizona Jewish Historical Society is non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of Arizona's Jewish communities and educating the public about the Jewish contributions to Arizona and American life. As part of this mission, we are restoring Phoenix's first synagogue as the Cutler-Plotkin Jewish Heritage Center. Originally built in 1922, the center will serve the community as a museum of Jewish history, archive, education center, and event venue. Located in the heart of downtown Phoenix, next to Burton Barr Public Library, the Cutler-Plotkin Jewish Heritage Center will provide a place where people of all faiths can come to learn about our history and culture, and the tremendous contributions that people of Jewish ancestry have made to our state and our nation.
